Manipulators

The UM 1 universal manipulator is designed for the installation of steel support components, pipeline sections and other items. The machine is built around a crawler chassis with a telescopic boom, which can be pivoted about 360°.

The front section of the boom is fitted with two 90°-offset rotary drives and two lifting and slewing cylinders. A quick-change system means that this front section can be fitted with various grab units and special clamping tools. The standard version has a payload of 500 kg.

The kinematic movements of the UM 1 manipulator allow the machine to access any point in the tunnel or roadway cross-section and to install support sections and other components in any required position.

The drive hydraulics are designed on the load-sensing principle, which allows a number of different functions to be performed simultaneously and with a high degree of precision. All drive hydraulics are enclosed in a machine housing attached to the vehicle body.

As an alternative to the standard version the UM 1 can be supplied specially equipped with different kinematics and payload capacities. A hydraulically-adjustable platform can also be mounted on to the drive housing in order to facilitate assembly work.

The hydraulic system can operate with mineral oil, bio-oil or fire-resistant HFC fluids, as desired.
